Which 2023 Kia Telluride Model Is Right for Me? – The 2023 Kia Telluride comes in five main trims: LX, S, EX, SX and SX Prestige. Additionally, Kia is offering two off-road-oriented trims, X-Line and X-Pro, but these are essentially upgrade packages for the upper trim levels.

  1. All models are fitted with a 291-horsepower V6 engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission.
  2. Front-wheel drive is standard across much of the lineup; all-wheel drive is a $2,000 option.
  3. Stick with the LX or S trims if you’re trying to save a bit of money.
  4. Both are very well-equipped as standard, so they don’t exactly feel like base models.

That being said, the upper trims do pile on enough niceties, such as genuine leather upholstery, ventilated seats and a panoramic sunroof, to back up their higher prices.

Is Telluride considered a luxury car?

Upscale Features Come Standard in the Telluride LX – The 2022 Telluride’s base trim level, the LX, includes an array of luxury features that come standard, including a commanding and stylish exterior design and a spacious interior with palatially ample legroom.

Perks like a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a 10.25″ touchscreen navigation display with Kia Connect, and auto front and rear tri-zone climate control provide extra convenience and comfort—for the driver and their passengers. With the Tow Package, all trims have a capacity to trailer up to 5,000 lbs—enough to accommodate a small camper for weekend trips and long-term road-tripping.

also boasts a plethora of high-tech driving assistance technologies, including Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist for both pedestrians and cyclists; Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist at the rear; Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist; Lane Keeping Assist; and Lane Following Assist.

All of these systems work independently and in tandem to provide an extra layer of protection on the road. All trims also come with Safe Exit Assist, which works when the car is stopped or at very low speeds. This feature uses sensors positioned under the taillights to detect approaching cars and cyclists, warning its occupants of oncoming cars and bicyclists—then locking the doors if danger is imminent.

This feature is especially useful for people who live and work in high-traffic areas like urban centers, as well as families with young children. Another hugely important (and perhaps life-saving) assistance feature that comes standard on the 2022 Telluride is its Rear Occupant Alert system, which displays a visual and audio alert when an occupant is left in the back seats. Why is there a markup on Kia Telluride?

How Much Does A New Kia Telluride Cost CNN Business — Reversing a century of tradition, most cars now sell for over the manufacturer’s sticker price. This is thanks to high demand paired with hobbled production due to global parts supply problems. But the brand with the highest average percentage markups might be the biggest surprise.

It isn’t some luxury or performance brand; it’s Kia, the South Korean car brand usually thought of as a value purchase. On average, Kia cars and SUVs are selling for about 6% over their sticker price, according to data from Edmunds.com. Roughly tied for second, at 4% above sticker price on average, are Honda, Hyundai and the luxury SUV brand Land Rover.

In dollar terms, Land Rover has the highest dealer markups, with customers paying an average of $3,686 over the sticker price, according to Edmunds.com. But the average purchase price for a Land Rover SUV in the US is over $94,000. Even on a straight dollar amount basis, Kia still ranks second of all car brands in America, with customers paying, on average, $2,183 over sticker.

That’s especially remarkable since the average Kia purchase price was about $36,000. There are three main reasons for Kia’s top ranking in dealer price markups. First, it’s a testament to what customers have long found in Kia’s cars and SUVs — a good value for the dollar. With today’s tight car market, dealers are able to cash in on some of that perceived value.

“You’re getting a lot, still, for the money even if you’re paying more now or more than for the competitor,” said Ivan Drury, an auto industry sales analyst with Edmunds.com. Kia has also been deliberately working to get away from its image as a brand people buy for the low price, Russell Wager, Kia America’s vice president for marketing, said in a recent interview with CNN Business.

“It’s not a question of that Kia might not be a good value because I still think we are,” he said. “We’re not marketing ourselves that way.” Instead, he said Kia now markets the design and attributes of the vehicles themselves, such as sportiness and, in the case of electric and hybrid vehicles, technology.

As with other car brands, Kia dealers are independent businesses that can set their own prices. But their pricing power has clearly benefited from Kia America’s marketing and product line-up decisions. Even before supply chain problems started slowing vehicle production, some Kia models, like the Telluride SUV, were already regularly selling for over sticker price, How Much Does A New Kia Telluride Cost Adding to the pressure is that, while manufacturing slowdowns have hit the whole industry, Kia models are especially hard to find. Kia’s “days’ supply” — a measure of dealerships’ inventory levels balanced against how quickly the vehicles sell — is down to single digits, said Zack Krelle, an industry analyst with TrueCar.

  • The average, he said, is around 28 days.
  • Even models that aren’t the hottest things are getting marked up.
  • John Grui of Shelby Township, Michigan, said he paid $1,000 over the sticker price in July for his base model Kia Soul.
  • It actually could have been more,” he said, but the car had a few hundred miles on it despite being sold as new.

The third factor i n why Kia vehicles are selling for so much over sticker price is that Kia sells a relatively large number of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric car models. With concern growing about fuel prices, after recent spikes, these sorts of vehicles have much higher dealer markups, on average, than gas vehicles, according to Edmunds data.

With customers expecting to save money on gas, they’re willing to pay more to purchase the vehicle. Models such as the Sportage Hybrid, Sportage Plug-in Hybrid and Sorento Hybrid sell for more than 8% above sticker price. The Kia EV6 all-electric car sells for 6.4% above sticker price, according to Edmunds.

Given their generally low starting prices compared to competing models, Kia customers may not feel too awful about paying a little more, said Chris Sutton, vice president for automotive retail at the consulting firm J.D. Power. And since prices have risen for used cars, too, a customer’s trade-in vehicle will also be worth more, he pointed out.

So the price bump on the new vehicle may be easier to swallow in the end. Ultimately, he said, it comes down to how the dealership communicates with the customer about the markup. A smart dealer, he said, will think about their long term reputation and not just the easy cash. Burton, of Jackson Kia in Florida, said his customers are generally aware that paying over sticker has become the norm before they come in to buy a car.

His dealership also adds extras like added warranty coverage to help justify higher prices. Higher interest rates are actually more of a shock for customers, he said. But he realizes these prices and high sales profits won’t last forever. He expects the market will return to normal around the end of the year, he said, and it will be back to selling cars based on the sticker price.

Is Telluride for rich people?

Telluride, Colorado Telluride, Colo., isn’t all that different from Aspen. It’s a high-end resort town that attracts ski bums, wealthy business executives and celebrities. The key difference between Aspen and Telluride-according to locals-is the attitude.

Aspen is unabashedly a place to see and be seen. Telluride is a place where celebrities can kick back and blend in. Located in southwest Colorado, seven hours from Denver, five hours from Albuquerque, and nine hours from Phoenix, the climate is mild-but subject to mood swings. Although Telluride is mainly known as a ski town, the summers are as hopping as the winters.

The days are long (up to 13 hours) and so lovely that many locals moved to Telluride for the winter skiing but got hooked on the summers and stayed. The town itself is located at the base of Telluride Ski Mountain (8,750 feet) and has a population of about 1,600.

But for a small town, there is a lot going on. From mid-May through the end of October there is a festival every single weekend, with the exception of one week reserved for the “Nothing Festival.” Brave locals have started an informal tradition of biking through town naked in honor of the Nothing Festival.

There are two film festivals; the Mountain Film Festival and the Telluride Film Festival, (the latter of which Chicago Tribune critic Roger Ebert has called one of his favorite film festivals). In addition, there’s a writers’ conference, jazz festival, wine festival, balloon rally, sunset concert series, playwright festival, chamber music festival, blues festival and many many more events and activities.

  • If the town is small now, it hasn’t always been.
  • In the 1890s, the population of Telluride peaked at about 5,000.
  • At the time it was a mining town, mostly composed of fortune seekers hoping to score some gold, silver and zinc.
  • The origin of the name Telluride is questionable: Some say it came from the expression “To hell you ride!”-a frequently used send-off that referred to the thriving sinful institutions in Telluride.

The other theory is that the name was derived from tellurium, a nonmetallic element often found near gold deposits. Telluride may be rich in charm, but it’s also rich on the wallet. The average single-family home costs more than $550,000. : Telluride, Colorado

Do celebrities go to Telluride?

How Much Does A New Kia Telluride Cost Courtesy photo Picturesque Telluride, Colorado TELLURIDE, Colo. – They sat shoulder to shoulder in the dark, snuggled into the plush, old-fashioned Nugget Theater on Colorado Avenue in Telluride. Because the single-screen cinema is so small, they could hear the sound of the whirring projector and hear the corn popping while they listened to Colin Firth try to get his character, Prince Albert, to overcome his stammer.

  1. Two days before the Academy Awards, this tiny Western town was rooting for “The Kings Speech” since the film, with Firth in the flesh, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival months earlier in September.
  2. But the stir is subtle.
  3. Forbes Magazine wrote it, and the locals have adopted the adage that “Aspen is unabashedly a place to see and be seen.

But Telluride is the place where celebrities can kick back and blend in.” Oprah, Ralph Lauren, Tom Cruise, Robert Redford, Jerry Seinfeld and countless others have frequented restaurants such as Rustico in Telluride or bought homes in the mountain ski town an hours’ drive from Montrose Airport, which is a 30-minute flight from Denver.

  1. A mountain guide told me he’d given a snowmobile ride to Paula Abdul.
  2. Sandra Bullock was in the seat you’re sitting in just two days ago,” a cab driver told me.

The most popular mode of transportation in Telluride is not by taxi or getaway horse, though. The old town lies below the mountain, so resort guests staying at the plush Madeline or Peaks Hotels take to the skies – via scenic gondola – to ride up to the 11,000-foot Mountain Village main ski and snowboard area.

Lift lines for the chairlifts up from there are almost unheard of since Telluride is a low-density ski resort. Because of its location, people on the slopes at Telluride tend to be locals or in-house resort guests, not day skiers passing through. The result is a clubby, adventurous kinship on the hill and in the apres ski bars and restaurants.

And since the main ski base begins at 11,000 feet, even beginners are treated to sweeping scenic views of the valley below. For a Michigan connection, visit Brown Dog Pizza on Colorado Avenue. The lively restaurant and bar is owned by former University of Michigan football player Jeff Smokevitch, who won the national championship playing for the Wolverines and is frequently present, along with his maize and blue memorabilia.

How much is the Telluride SX prestige?

The highly sought-after three-row crossover is revised for 2023, and so is its MSRP. – The Kia Telluride ‘s success story hardly needs repeating. The SUV shook up the midsize three-row segment in 2019, delivering style, quality, roominess, and general appeal unmatched by any other SUV in its highly competitive segment,

  • It immediately won MotorTrend’s 2020 SUV of the Year award and garnered praise from across the industry.
  • Undergirding these warm ‘n fuzzies was the Telluride’s price tag, which hovered in the mid-$30,000 range to start; even fully loaded examples didn’t crest $50,000.
  • It’s no wonder buyers have snapped up every single Telluride Kia has been able to make.

Now, for 2023, the Telluride has undergone a mild revision, and while it still carries tons of value, there’s no sugarcoating things: The price goes up. Kia also has concentrated that price increase on the entry-level Telluride LX, which sees a $2,300 bump to $37,025 to start.

As before, all-wheel drive adds another $2,000 to the ask. The rest of the lineup sees a smorgasbord of price changes; the Telluride S’s price goes up by $1,700, the mid-level EX’s cost rises by a steeper $2,900, and the SX’s MSRP jumps $2,200. Of course, this year also marks the addition of off-road-themed X-Line and X-Line Pro trim levels, which are appended to the 2023 Telluride’s EX, SX, and new SX Prestige trims.

On the Telluride EX, the X-Line treatment runs $4,195 (above the front-drive model, and that includes the optional $2,000 all-wheel-drive system). Telluride SX customers can choose between the X-Line or more involved X-Line Pro, for upcharges of $3,395 and $4,395 respectively over the price of a front-driver; again, those figures include the required $2,000 AWD system.
