Is Audi a good car to buy used?

Cons of Buying a Used Audi Vehicle –

Older technology While luxury vehicles like Audi do feature forward-thinking technology for the year they’re released, a 2004 used Audi won’t have the same technology as a new 2017 Honda or Audi. More maintenance A used Audi will naturally have more miles and more wear and tear than a new vehicle. This means that it will likely need more expensive repairs sooner than a new vehicle of another make. However, you can mitigate these costs by choosing a Certified Pre-Owned Audi with its extended warranties. Additionally, sometimes a used vehicle can prove more reliable than a new one so long as service milestones and proper care and maintenance recommendations are followed. Before you buy any used vehicle, be sure to go over its CARFAX report and see how well the vehicle fared over its lifetime. Little to no warranty Again, this depends on where you go and what car you buy. A private seller of a used Audi vehicle can’t offer you warranty transfers but certain used Audis sold by an Audi dealership can.

Is Audi a middle class car?

5 Luxury Cars Even You Can Afford to Drive New Off the Lot

  • NEW YORK () — Do you drive a Hyundai but dream of an Audi ?
  • Or perhaps your definition of luxury means sliding behind the wheel of a shiny Mercedes or sporty BMW,
  • The good news is that each of those carmakers has an automobile in their lineup within reach on a middle-class income.

Paul Nadjarian, a former Ford and eBay Motors exec who founded, an automotive classified website, has two key tips for those who earn about $50,000 a year and want to buy a luxury automobile: Make sure you’re at the right stage in life. And go small.

By “right stage in life” Nadjarian means being single, or newly married and not having kids yet. The answer is tied closely to Nadjarian’s second bit of advice — go small. The affordable, entry-level luxury vehicles tend to be those that are the tinier, less roomy offerings in a carmaker’s lineup. The Audi A3 is a good example.

Nadjarian and other auto industry experts say it’s a great luxury car buy for someone who does not have a lot of money. But be warned: It’s a small car, not built for shuttling kids around town. “The A3 is very nice,” he says. “But it’s tiny.” “There’s a finite window of time for that entry-level luxury car,” Nadjarian says.

  1. Once you get a little older and you have the one child, with a second on the way, you can’t be looking at the entry-level luxury cars, because they’re just not big enough.” “But for the younger, middle-class person, when you are in your 20s and have a good job and some disposable income,
  2. It can make a tremendous amount of sense,” Nadjarian says.

Before buying it’s important to take a deep breath and conduct a realistic assessment of your financial situation. Review your income and expenses and how you’re living your life, making sure everything is in sound order, Nadjarian says. “If you’re able to save money and put money away for retirement and you still have money left over after all that, then go ahead and get that luxury car,” he says.

  • You need to do what makes you feel good, and if having a brand-new Audi A3 makes you feel great, then go for it.
  • But not if you’re not making your student loan payments.” Luxury cars that Nadjarian and other auto industry experts define as affordable for a middle-class income are at or under the $30,000 price mark.

Carmakers with vehicles in that category include most of the marquee brands — Mercedes, BMW and Audi. Lexus does not make a car that costs around $30,000 or less to buy new, Nadjarian says. (Sorry, Lexus lovers). Another vehicle worth including in the discussion is the Buick Encore, says, known professionally as The Car Coach and a three-time award-winning automotive book author and columnist for Parade magazine.

  1. She and Nadjarian say a target monthly car payment is difficult to pinpoint precisely because it would vary depending on factors including the price of the car, amount of down payment and buyer’s credit rating.
  2. But both also say if you don’t plan on keeping the car for the long term, a lease is often a good way to make a new luxury car affordable.
  3. “With a three-year, 36,000 mile lease, you can put a minimal amount of money down and you can get into these cars without feeling like you’re car poor or upside down,” says Fix, also a juror for the coveted North American Car of the Year award.

“When it comes to brand-new luxury cars it makes sense to look at lease options, because it can be more affordable then financing it on a loan,” Nadjarian says. “Especially if you’re the type who does not want to own the car after two or three years.” Here are Nadjarian’s and Fix’s top picks for luxury vehicles that are about or under $30,000 and notes about why they like each: BMW X1 Price: $30,900 This is BMW’s least expensive car and its smallest crossover SUV.

The price of the X1 makes it comparable to cars not earning the luxury label, such as the Honda CR-V, Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4. The X1 is also known for having good fuel economy. “I’m partial to BMW or the Audi A3,” Nadjarian says. “I think the driving experience is more of a drivers’ car, if you love to drive.

You can feel the car, versus more of a lofty luxury feel.” Fix has a similar take on the X1: “These are great performance vehicles, known to be drivers’ cars and they have great storage,” she says. Mercedes CLA Price: $29,900 These start just below $30,000 and are Mercedes’ attempt to lure new, younger buyers.

  1. The CLA has much of the style of the more expensive CLS class, in a smaller version.
  2. When you think luxury, you think Mercedes, BMW, Audi,” Nadjarian says.
  3. And the CLA is the only Mercedes with a price that low.” “Mercedes is about class, it’s about elegance and performance,” Fix adds.
  4. With the CLA you’re going to get all of that.

And depending on how you option it, you’re not going to get top-of-line navigation, but you’re going to get a car that has people thinking you’re doing pretty good.” Audi A3 Price: $29,900 Think sporty, premium sedan that is fuel-efficient but a tad on the small side.

  • Standard options in this car include such things as a panoramic sunroof and leather seating.
  • This car has luxury and performance,” Fix says.
  • You can get a small turbo engine and all the goodies you would expect from an Audi.” Acura ILX Price: $27,050 When it comes to size and performance, Acura’s entry-level luxury sedan ranks just below the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4, according to Kelly Blue Book,

The car is not overly roomy, but offers sleek styling and technology. “It doesn’t have same the cache as Mercedes, BMW or Audi. But it is a luxury brand and is a very nice car,” Nadjarian says. Buick Encore Price: $24,075 Another compact, crossover SUV on list, the Buick name doesn’t necessarily make people think luxury, but Fix says this vehicle is worth a second look.
