HOME > Paint Codes > Bmw Paint Codes
As with most car manufacturers Bmw paint codes can be found in several locations. The most reliable location is in the door shut / frame of the vehicle ( The area revealed when you open your door ). Locations can vary dependant on model so you may have to scout around all the doors to locate the information plate. The paint code in this image is 475 for black sapphire metallic. The code is usually to the mid left of the information plate and the paint code will often be before a “/”. There may be another number after the”/” but this is not required for your exterior paint colour. The colour code is located in the bottom left corner on this information plate. The paint code is 405 for Imola red 2 on this image. A colour name will also often be stated on the Bmw brand ( Usually in it’s German version of the colour name ). If you would like to include this name with your order we can double check the code ordered.
If your code is not in these two loctaions it may be found toward the front of the engine bay, behind the headlamp. The Bmw mini paint code can be found near to the front wing but is only revealed when the bonnet is raised. We recommend always confirming the colour code on the vehicle prior to ordering.
This is by far the most reliable way to ensure the right colour is ordered. If you cannot locate your paint code on the vehicle the next best alternative is to contact a local Bmw dealer parts / service department with your registration / VIN number. They will be able to confirm your colour from the relevant manufacturer database.

Home Education Center How To Find Your Paint Code On Your Vehicle
Post Created On: 2018-12-20 10:41:58 Post Last Updated On: 2019-01-02 16:30:50 How to find your paint code on your vehicle. With the all different make and models available on the market, there are just as many shades of colors that are available too.
When ordering a painted to match one-piece truck bed cover from UnderCover the name of the color alone doesn’t matter. Car manufacturer’s use the same color name for different colors. For example, a manufacturer has a color called Candy Apple Red in 2016, but in 2018 they make a slight change to the color making it a little bit brighter.
Although the name remains the same and the color doesn’t look that much different, it’s technically now two different colors, and each one of those colors will have a unique paint code. So where do I find my paint code? Let’s go over some of the common places to find your paint code.
For most cases, your paint code can be found inside the driver’s door jam, Two types of paint codes are listed — one is for the exterior paint, the other is for the cabin or interior color. One code may say “paint” the other “trim.” Jot down the paint code and call your dealer’s service department to have them decode this for you.
Jot down your VIN number, The VIN number is a unique 17-digit serial number to your specific vehicle. Typically your VIN number can be found on the left side of the dashboard through the windshield. After you have the number contact your dealer and ask them for the color code, and precise name.
Last case scenario if you can’t seem to locate your paint code, check your owner’s manual. Your book may identify where your paint code placards have been placed on your vehicle. Depending on your model/make these placards could be located in non-common places listed above. Can I Use the Internet? Be wary when using the Internet to decode your paint code.
A handful of websites may provide your paint name and code, but it doesn’t mean it’s correct or up to date. You’ve got a 5 year old car. How much do you think a new “pot of paint” would match your aged color? A good paint shop even considers aging when mixing the color, it’s not so much a question of OEM or not. _ Such Fun If you finde any spelling mistakes in my posts you may keep them, no return required
