Does the Kia Seltos have a good engine?
Engine Options, Horsepower and Acceleration –
Base engine: 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 146 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque Available engine: 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 175 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque Drivetrain: standard all-wheel drive; available front-wheel drive Transmission: standard continuously variable automatic; available seven-speed dual-clutch automatic
The Seltos’ base engine does a fine job of scooting the SUV around town, but it starts to feel pokey at higher speeds where passing power is also lacking. The available engine benefits from a turbocharged wave of torque, which hauls the Seltos up to speed with urgency. Unfortunately, the dual-clutch transmission paired with this engine tends to shift slowly and shudder at low speeds.
“We were able to sample the Seltos with the turbocharged 1.6-liter and found its power to be more than adequate. Our test vehicle snapped off a quick 6.6-second run to 60 mph.” – Car and Driver (2022) “While the lower-power option isn’t slow necessarily, it does run out of grunt noticeably sooner on the freeway, particular (sic) when it comes time to overtaking another car. The more powerful choice is the right one for us, even though the peppier powertrain isn’t as smooth at low speeds, and shifts seem to be a little slower than you would expect from a dual-clutch transmission.” – Automobile Magazine (2021) “The turbo lags a beat or two from a start, then kicks in with force faster than you can back off. And the seven-speed had occasional lapses on downshifts, sometimes hesitating even at partial throttle and, when pressed harder, pulling two pronounced downshifts to find the appropriate gear. The base powertrain might better suit many buyers.” – Cars.com (2021)
What is the life expectancy of a Kia Seltos?
How Far and Long Can You Drive a Kia? – Let’s get right to the chase: how long do Kias last? In the hands of a responsible owner, Kia vehicles are expected to last up to 200,000 miles. According to the accounts of owners who gave their Kias the much-needed TLC, they could get 200,000 to 250,000 miles and keep them on the road for a decade or more.
- But of course, every driver’s mileage may vary (pun intended) when it comes to the longevity of vehicles.
- Longevity is influenced by numerous factors, including ownership care and driving conditions.
- While the older Kias from 20 or so years ago won’t win awards for reliability, the most recent Kia lineups can log 200,000+ miles on the odometer – these are numbers that can compete with the likes of Honda and Toyota.
For example, the Kia Rio subcompact sedan is capable of hitting 250,000 miles according to Reader’s Digest and has excellent reliability ratings as per J.D. Power, BE CERTAIN YOU’RE GETTING THE BEST DEAL CoPilot searches your area and lets you know if there’s a better deal on a similar vehicle nearby, so you’re always certain you got the best deal possible.

Which is the safest car in Kia?
Kia Carens — The Safest in its Class The automotive industry has become fiercely competitive, and carmakers around the world are striving to provide their cars brimmed with features, spacious interiors, and powertrains to offer the best of both worlds — performance and fuel efficiency. is one such brand that stands out in the crowd with its vehicles’ modern-day and youthful appearance. And the brand-spanking-new is its latest example. In addition to the stunning looks, features, and spacious interior, the Carens also gets plenty of features in the form of the Hi-Safety Package. What’s the Hi-Safety package? Well, to be precise, the Hi-Safety Package on the Carens is composed of 10 safety features. With this, it has become the first mass-market car in India to offer such high-tech equipment as standard in each of its variants. How do things work? For starters, there are six airbags, including front, side, and curtain units providing 360-degree protection to the driver and passengers in case of a crash. Other safety features include electronic stability control (ESC) and vehicle stability management (VSM). Not only that, but Kia has also given hill assist and downhill brake control systems. To briefly elaborate, the hill assist control automatically puts pressure on the brakes when your car halts on an uphill road to prevent the vehicle from going backwards and depresses the pressure when you accelerate. What’s more? The four-wheel disc brakes make a day and night difference when it comes to braking. They significantly improve the stopping power of your Carens, even during emergency braking. Additionally, the brake assist function further applies more pressure on brakes, thus drastically reducing the stopping distance in panic braking, especially when you want the car to stop then and there. If you are thinking that the safety in the Carens is merely dependent on these standard safety features, the answer is no. Kia has utilised high-strength steel along with high-grade adhesive to build the robust body of the Carens. Thus, providing a robust and safe car to sit inside. Futuristic technology in your hands There is more than just the standard safety equipment as Kia has bestowed Carens with numerous connected-car safety features in the form of Kia Connect. In fact, this sophisticated connected-car tech is accessible via your smartwatch or smartphone. All-round protection That said, Kia Connect also protects your Carens with advanced always-on features, such as time fence alert, geo-fencing, idle and speed alert, stolen vehicle notification, tracking, and immobilisation. If you dine out or go shopping where valet parking is available, the valet mode helps keep your valuable information safe by locking the infotainment system with a password. What accompanies the safety technology in the Carens is the comfort for the whole family and best-in-segment features, such as a high-definition infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a smart in-cabin air purifier, 64-colour ambient lighting, eight speakers Bose premium sound system, cooling function for cup holders, a wireless phone charging pad, and ventilated front seats. : Kia Carens — The Safest in its Class

Is the Kia Seltos quiet?
2022 Kia Seltos Performance Review – The 2022 Kia Seltos is a capable, quiet performer. Its base engine is satisfactory but not exceptional. The available turbocharged engine is more potent, but it comes with a transmission that’s not eager to downshift when more power is needed.
“The Seltos is as quiet and smooth as anything else in the segment, but the powertrain could be improved. The Seltos can feel gutless in certain driving situations thanks to an engine that doesn’t come alive until the middle of its rev range and a transmission that’s always a couple of gears too high.” – CNET (2021) “Regardless of engine, the Seltos has a compliant and confident ride. While its size makes it a star in the city, we wouldn’t hesitate to take it on a longer trip.” – Kelley Blue Book (2021) “When the roads get twistier, the Seltos behaves less like the Soul that inspired it and more like the crossover that it is. It exhibits more perceptible body roll in the corners, and its tires are clearly intended to foster efficiency rather than sporty dynamics. This may read like a lukewarm appraisal, but we actually found the Seltos quite pleasant to drive.” – Autoblog (2021)
Is Seltos good on gas?
The Kia Seltos will soon be the newest addition to the Korean automaker’s lineup, but soon doesn’t just yet. The all-new SUV was first presented last November as a 2021 model, so we can expect it to debut later on this year. Stay tuned next week as the Seltos makes its official Canadian debut at the Montreal International Auto Show.
- In the meantime, the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) in the U.S.
- Has just published official fuel consumption figures for the new model.
- Obviously their numbers are given as miles per gallon (MPG), but we made the conversions to come up with the figures that we should get here in Canada in litres per 100 km.
The base engine of the Seltos is a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine making 146 hp in conjunction with a continuously variable transmission (CVT). It comes standard in front-wheel-drive configuration but AWD is available as an option. No surprise, this is the most frugal of the powertrains available in the product offering, with consumption of 8.1L/100 km (city) and 6.9L/100 km (highway), which combined makes 7.6L/100 km. The other engine in the picture for the Seltos is a 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 175 hp and bolted to a dual-clutch transmission. Here the figures are 9.4L/100 km (city), 7.6L/100 km (highway) and 8.1L/100 km (combined). All-wheel drive comes standard with this unit.
Take note that the official figures from Canada could diverge slightly from these extrapolated from the American ones, particularly because in the U.S. figures are never provided with decimals. For instance, if the real figure south of the border is actually 27.2 mpg instead of the given 27, that will cause the Canadian number to fall from 8.7 to 8.6L/100 km.
Still, you get the general idea of what to expect from the newest Kia SUV.

Reply Srikar Linga.4.7 8 Jul 2021 Mileage average I own a 2021 kia seltos 1.4tgdi dct model. In terms of performance it’s one of the best i have driven. On open roads it can easily beat the likes of innova, Fortuner and all big guys with its sheer speed and dual clutch just makes you zoom past other cars while they figure to get the car in right gear.Power is in its dual clutch and turbo engine. The dual clutch is the best, It’s like someone is choosing the right gear for you constantly.Features wise one of the best and the 360 camera quality is on par with high end cars.I have not driven the diesel automatic on highway but it will not be as quick as the 1.4tgdi especially with torque converter. If you enjoy driving a good car this is the best you can get, The top end petrol variant.Mileage average i got is 13kmpl with half aggressive highway and half on eco mode in city combined.I will take that anyday with the performance the car is giving.I went for top end petrol because of its performance and dual clutch which i know is drivers best friend.I didn’t choose diesel because the same engine is being offered from base variant of sonet and all the way upto top end seltos. There is no value for money in the top variant for diesel. You can get the same engine for much less cost. Sudev Nair 5.0 7 Dec 2020 Applying breaks Seltos gives a comfortable and stable drive on high speed in the highways. No vibrations on high speeds.Even while applying breaks you have full control of the vehicle.Gives an overall mileage of 17.5 in highways and 15.5 in the city. Krishna Kanth 5.0 9 Jun 2020 Absolute delight After a lot of R&D finally got the Kia Seltos HTE Diesel. I must say, I do not regret my decision. It is an absolute delight to drive this baby. The power is more than adequate to skim through Bengaluru city traffic and out on the highway, you just put your feet down, Seltos does the remaining. Ashwin Bhatt 3.7 19 Jan 2020 Speed limit Not driven enough to give opinion. Received 19km fuel efficiency in eco mode with 80-90km. Speed limit.Otherwise 14-15km in mixcycle. Gets mileage of : 15 kmpl Reply Abani Behera 4.0 10 Jan 2020 Narrow lanes a good car in terms of feature spec. Spacious cabin. Drive quality is good but not the best. Hyundai Creta provides better drive quality. Features like the 360 Degree camera, air purifier, AC vented seats are pretty nicely implemented.
- Great fan of the 360 camera.
- Have been using this feature in narrow lanes.
- Although the petrol engine is not noisy but you can still hear bit of noise (Not like the Hyundai where the cabin noise is almost zero).
- In slow speed the vehicles is not that smooth but the moment we cross 30 KM, its pretty smooth.
Eco mode makes you feel that the car doesn’t have much power.Normal is good overall. Sports has a great power punch but noisy. I prefer normal mode in most of the time.UVO app works fine only when the car eSIM (Vodafone) is under good network coverage.
DCT transmission temperature is a serious problem (at least for Bangalore). in bumper to bumper traffic it keeps on getting heated and an alert keeps on coming in the cluster to stop the car. Not sure if this problem will be fixed. But with this we can not drive in Bangalore during peek hours. So far i liked my car until the transmission issue appeared.
Now it looks I can not drive it regularly in Bangalore traffic. Gets mileage of : 7 kmpl Reply Review your vehicle & win ₹ 1000 Rs.10.49 Lakh View November Offers rvmp_rhs_slider : Kia Seltos Speed User Reviews, Ratings and Experience @ ZigWheels
